There are some of you who have known this for a while. I, however, have only known this for a few months.
I’ve always loved Nature and I have always loved the beach – not so much an overcrowded tourist beach where you can’t move for oily sun worshipping bodies – but a beach that has texture, that has its own personality, energy, wisdom and beauty. All beaches are beautiful but the ones you can stand or sit on and look out across the sea, breathing in that air, filling your lungs… Those are the beaches I have always loved.
We have a dog – Reuben. Crazy, daft, boisterous Reuben our Labrador. We also live near the east coast of Scotland. In Fife to be exact. I had started taking Reuben to the beach – which he loves too (being a fairly typical Labrador). Never did it cross my mind to look for the treasures that were lying beneath my feet.
A few months ago I had a beloved Andara crystal pendant that one day fell from a height and smashed in 3 places. I was devastated. I feel and sense the energy of everything and everyone around me – and this also includes items I wear. The energy of this pendant was beautiful and in an inspirational moment I wondered if I could still wear the shards in some pendant-way. After doing some research I discovered such a thing as jewellery made from wire-wrapping a stone/crystal. I tried this with my Andara pieces and it worked out perfectly! During my research I had come across ‘sea glass’….. I had loved wrapping my mini Andaras and wondered how I would do with sea glass.
So along with Reuben I set off on another seashore walk and this time I looked down….. and I saw them. Tiny pieces, large pieces of glass, all different colours too – mainly white but also brown and green and blue ! I picked them up to feel into them and the energy of some of those pieces was breathtaking – I sensed the power of the waves and elements that had shaped them into what they were now. They had a ‘light’, ‘sparkly’ uplifting feeling about them. I took some home and I started experimenting with the wire. Mara Glainne Designs started from there and now, guess what…?? SEA GLASS ROCKS !!!!
